🏆 The "Trouble-FĂȘte" from Badaboum voted Paris's best non-alcoholic cocktail

To begin

This Monday, amidst the gilded splendor of Paris City Hall, the atmosphere was festive—and alcohol-free. Spearheaded by Paris City Hall, the capital’s first-ever "best mocktail" competition showcased the creativity of Parisian bars and clubs. The goal: to demonstrate that non-alcoholic cocktails can rival their alcoholic counterparts in terms of taste and originality.

Behind this contest lies a strong determination: to encourage Dry January—the movement that invites people to take a break from alcohol consumption throughout the month of January. And what better way to win over the skeptics than a festive event?

đŸ„‡ The "Trouble-FĂȘte": a mocktail that breaks the mold

Badaboum —a club in the 11th arrondissement well-known to night owls—took top honors with its "Trouble-FĂȘte" mocktail. Behind this evocative name lies a bold creation by Maxime Deladienne, the venue's mixologist.

"I proposed a non-alcoholic version of one of my signature cocktails. Most of the ingredients come from the Île-de-France region," he explains.

The result? A rich, spicy mocktail featuring the flavours of a reimagined Tarte Tatin.

📌 Ingredients:

  • Apple juice
  • Cranberry juice
  • Verjus (a tart green grape juice)
  • Amaretto syrup
  • Hot sauce

This sweet-and-tart blend, enhanced with a touch of heat, won over a panel of experts chaired by Anne-Claire Boux, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of public health. Alongside Claire Touzard, author of Sans alcool (Flammarion), Bernard Basset, President of Addictions France, and Amine Benyamina, a psychiatrist specialising in addiction medicine, they tasted and evaluated the mocktails in the competition.

🏅 A 100% committed podium

Following Badaboum, second place went to Rosa Bonheur for a refreshing, floral mocktail, while Panic Room (11th arrondissement) took third place. These establishments proved that creativity in non-alcoholic mixology rivals that of traditional cocktails.

After the awards ceremony, the event continued with roundtable discussions on the future of non-alcoholic drinks, featuring specialists and key figures from the "no-alcohol" movement, including Augustin Laborde, founder of Le Paon qui Boit— a shop dedicated to non-alcoholic beverages in the 19th arrondissement. It was an opportunity to highlight how the non-alcoholic trend is becoming a lasting part of consumer habits.

🍾 Are mocktails the future of Parisian nightlife?

The competition's success confirms a reality: mocktails are no longer mere alternatives, but creations in their own right. Their move upmarket, driven by passionate mixologists, reflects a shift in mindset.

With venues like Le Paon qui Boit and competitions highlighting innovation in non-alcoholic mixology, Paris is gradually establishing itself as a capital of chic and festive non-alcoholic drinks.

The "Trouble-FĂȘte" from Badaboum perfectly embodies this revolution: an uncompromising cocktail that combines pleasure, creativity, and commitment.
